四十铺中学始建于1958年，占地80余亩，建筑面积10650m2，位于距绥德县城以北15公里的四十铺镇，是一所县办初级中学。现有教学班33个，教职工198人，学生2600多人。学校先后被评为市“文明校园”、县“双常规管理示范学校”、“德育工作先进单位”、“教育工作先进单位”、“课改先进单位”等。

学校领导班子团结进取，教师勤勉、合作、尚真、创新，年龄结构合理，大专及以上学历占95%，建设起一支遵纪守法、爱岗敬业、关爱学生、治学严谨的教师队伍。
